I remember years ago, when my mother was able to drive her own car; she used to go to auto parts stores for discount auto parts.  She would buy the parts from the auto parts stores and then bring them home for my husband or another family member to install them.  She saved a lot of money using this process to get her car repaired; because she was helping, it made her feel like less of a burden.  I can remember my mother telling me that she would go to auto parts stores and they would be kind enough to come out to her car in the parking lot and check her cars fluids and add whatever was low.  That is what I call full service auto parts stores!  How sweet is that?  I know how hard it is for elderly people to do simple things like check their oil; that is why I appreciate all of those auto parts stores that helped my mother to feel like she was still able to drive her car and still take care of it in the proper manner.

Most auto parts stores have helpful clerks and they will even come out to your car and check your battery.  I couldn't believe it the first time I heard that auto parts stores would do that for a person!  The first time I had a guy come out to my car and check to see if my alternator was putting out, I couldn't believe I; they don't get paid extra for doing that; but I can tell you that it sure made a difference as to where I would buy my parts from.

So, if you have an elderly mother or father, make sure you find one of those kind auto parts stores that will take care of them.  It will make your parents feel self sufficient and it will also give a younger person the chance to do something nice for someone!
